Bruckner Commons recently completed a $50 million renovation which saw ShopRite and Burlington open as part of the redevelopment. Located off the Bruckner Expressway (I-287), Bruckner Commons straddles Castle Hill, Unionport and Soundview - all densely populated working-class neighborhoods. Bruckner Commons is a regional center for the Southern Bronx and has been a retail hub since the 1930’s.
Bruckner Commons serves the South Bronx Community, particularly the Soundview, Park Chester, Shore Haven, Classon Point, and Castle Hill Neighborhoods. Because of the center’s size and accessibility from the Bruckner Expressway, the center attracts shoppers from a larger radius than most urban centers.
Located at the intersection of the Bruckner Expressway and White Plains Road, the project boasts over 80,000 vehicles per day, all of which pass by the center. Three buses stop at the center and the Elder Avenue subway is a 15-minute walk.
Several local schools including the Soundview Academy (for art) and dense housing developments populate the area.
