The Culver Public Market is a highly anticipated commercial project situated at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Centinela Avenue in the heart of Culver City, California. Ideally located at this vibrant corner, the market is poised to become a hub for both locals and visitors, offering a diverse array of artisanal food and dining experiences.
Originally envisioned as a 26,800-square-foot artisanal marketplace with a market hall, various food retail, and restaurant suites, the project has undergone significant modifications in response to changing market conditions and the pandemic. The revised plan now features a smaller footprint of approximately 13,300 square feet less than the original design, focusing primarily on retail and restaurant space.
The development includes 9,600 square feet of outdoor dining areas and plazas, enhancing the community's public spaces. A two-story, 122-stall parking structure owned by the city will provide ample parking for both the market and the surrounding shopping district. The project's design maintains a simple, rustic aesthetic that complements the surrounding properties, ensuring a harmonious blend with the existing urban landscape.
Culver Public Market is a collaborative effort between Culver Public Market LLC, a Regency Centers affiliate, and the City of Culver City. The city has committed nearly $17 million to the project, covering land acquisition, parking structure set-aside funds, relocation, and financial services. Upon completion, the market is expected to generate approximately $159,800 in annual revenue to the city and create around 120 temporary jobs and 101 permanent new jobs in the community.
The project's timeline indicates that construction is set to begin next summer and is anticipated to wrap up by late 2026 or early 2027. Architecture firms KTGY Group Inc., Architects Orange, and McG Architecture, along with structural engineers ANF & Assoc. and Coffman Engineers Inc., are working together to bring this vision to life. The Culver Public Market promises to be a dynamic addition to Culver City's thriving commercial scene, offering a unique blend of culinary delights and community amenities.
